Le Marche; Sagre and Testivals

At this time of year when we are still in the depths of winter it is always nice to look forward to the wonderful summer Sagre and festivals that we have in Le Marche. Sagre are found all over Italy and are local food fairs that have come about over the centuries to celebrate the fruits of the earth and harvest.

Life in Le Marche 2010.

I believe that the coming year will bring major opportunities for many who live in this wonderful part of Italy and also for many others who do business in the Le Marche region.

Le Marche is a truly beautiful and unspoilt part of Italy and is rightly known by many Italians “As all of Italy in one region”

The Le Marche Property Market 2009.

At his time of the year, so near to Christmas, I always like to look back and review how I feel that the property market in Le Marche and indeed the whole of Italy has behaved in the past twelve months and what if any trends seem to be showing up for the coming year in 2010.

Sound advice for purchasing property in Le Marche Italy

There are many guides for available online (I even have my own guide to buying real estate in Le Marche) to advise prospective purchasers on how to buy property in Italy and normally they only mention the legal and formal processes involved when purchasing a house or land.

Autumn in Le Marche 2009

Another very hot and mainly dry summer is now behind us and the autumn is upon us in this beautiful part of eastern Italy. Only a few weeks ago we were still sweltering in temperatures well over thirty degrees, but in the past few days the weather has turned much colder and there have been heavy thundery downpours. But this unsettled weather should quickly pass and the autumn hopefully will return to its more normal pattern of warm days and cool nights.

Le Marche Regional Produce and Olivaverde.

Le Marche produces a wonderful and diverse array of fine Extra virgin olive oils, jams, preserves and pasta. Many holiday home owners and clients who live in the UK maybe only get back to Le Marche once or twice a year and many really miss typical Marchigiani food and olive oil once they return home, as it is practically impossible to buy it outside of the region.

Summer Jamboree 2009 in Senigallia, Le Marche

The annual summer Jamboree in Senigallia is almost upon us again and this year will be my fourth consecutive visit to this wonderful week long event, which celebrates 1950’s American music and culture. This year is the 10th anniversary and as before the main events are being held in the Piazza del Duca from the 14th to 23rd August.

The Property Market in Le Marche Summer 2009

This time of year is a good time to review the property market in Le Marche over the coming summer season; bad weather, high exchange rates, credit crunch and all.

Green Energy and Restoring Properties in Le Marche

Environmental and price concerns about the use of gas and fossil fuels for heating properties have been prominent in the UK for several years now. In Italy, especially in the more rural regions there has been no real emphasis on green energy until the past year or so. But this situation is slowly starting to change, and a lot of the change is being driven by foreign property owners who are restoring old country properties and taking advantage of the new clean energy alternatives.

Olive oil and Real Estate in Le Marche in the spring.

Working and living part time in Le Marche, Italy allows me to try out wonderful local produce and also sample the wide varieties of local olive oils. In Italy each region has it's own special types of pasta, meat and fish dishes and indeed subtle differences in pasta types are found even from village to village. This also holds true for olive oils produced in the different regions of Italy and a hot peppery Sicilian oil from the south is very different from a light soft olive oil from the Toscana region.

Casa Altidona is a beautifully restored townhouse in the historic centre of the coastal village of Altidona in southern Le Marche. The property is 140sqm and was completely restored in 2008 using a mixture of the original and reclaimed materials by the current owner, and was finished to a very high standard. Most of the floors are laid with light cotto tiles, the colour typically used in the Le Marche region of Italy. But the floors in the bathroom and shower room are laid with light travertine flooring which matches the finishes on the walls.
